Zach Bell Crash At Dallas Supercross 2013

This weekend was the first time we got to see the 250 East Coast riders in action. They were in Cowboy Stadium in Dallas Texas. Zach Bell Grabbed the holeshot in his heat race and looked to be checking out when all of a sudden it looked like his Geico Honda lost traction on the face of the jump and he was pitched off his bike in mid air. After watching the replay it looks like he was trying to scrub the triple and his foot slipped of the footpeg.

As you can see he was laying limp on the race course. To me he looks like he was knocked out cold as he laid there motionless. They had to red flag the race in order to get the Aestrisk Medical Unit on the course to check him out. After seeing this I was certain that he was done for the night if not for the season.

When I saw him line up for the Last Chance Qualifier I could not believe my eyes. I find it hard to believe that someone in his position just an hour earlier was able to pass a concussion test and was able to convince the higher ups that he was in the proper mental state to keep racing. Now I do not have any inside information but as a fan I cannot believe they allowed this kid to line up for the LCQ. I hope that it was ultimately his decision to race and not pressured into lining up because of a bigger team agenda.

Zach Rode well in the LCQ coming away with a transfer spot to the nights main event. He was visibly shaken up after the race, when he was being interviewed by Erin Bates.

Later on in the night Zach lined up for the main event and was having a decent ride when misfortune struck again. Zach over jumped the second table top in the rhythm section and sent him over the bars head first into the corner. As you can see below he is in some pain.

The Geico Honda Team has said that Zach Bell was able to pass a concussion test after both crashes. Either somebody is not telling the entire truth or that new 6D helmet that all the Geico Riders are using are really revolutionary.

Hot New: Red Bull KTM Factory Graphics Kit From N-Style

Hot New: Red Bull KTM Factory Graphics Kit From N-Style!
If you’re a Red Bull KTM fan, you aren’t going to want to pass on this kit. Yes, the graphics don’t have the Bull that you see on the factory KTM team kits but everything else is just the same. For some reason, Red Bull has a copyright lock on their logo. The end user has to receive written permission from Red Bull to use their logo on anything. KTM has it because Red Bull pays for their race team. You and I unfortunately, we aren’t going to be so lucky. You have to give N-Style credit though, they were able to exactly duplicate the graphics very closely to satisfy us KTM fanboys (or girls).
If you have a 2013 KTM that is the non-Dungey or should we say KTM 450SX-F Factory Edition, this is the closest thing we are going to get to those graphics. If you need proof, try calling your dealer and ordering just the shroud graphics. They will tell you sorry, they can only order them if you bring your old ones in (damaged or new). They won’t be able to order them until they send them off! We consider that to be some major BS.
In a nutshell, if you are able to get over the fact that the bull is no in the logo, you will be happy with these graphics. We have seen these in person and they are sharp. Sitting next to Ryan Villopoto’s bike was Marvin Musquin’s KTM 250SXF and people were staring at Marvin’s bike more than Villopoto’s!

Allsport Dynamics Lacer Wrist Brace

Allsport Dynamics is a company that offers joint braces for all types of action sports. Pictured below is the Lacer wrist brace that is used by motocross riders and racers. This is the same design brace that Justin Barcia wears. These braces used to only be available by prescription only. They are now offered to the general public without a doctors authorization.
Allsport IMC Wrist is an off-the-shelf wrist brace engineered to limit the extension of the wrist. There is a bi-axial, articulating hinge system that also allows side to side movement of the wrist.
The IMC features the open-palm design that is comfortable and limits the obstruction of the rider’s grip, while the rigid dorsal frame provides stability and support. The frame is constructed of an injection molded, high-strength composite material.

These are the inserts that go into the wrist brace to limit the movement of the wrist. You can customize the range of motion to fit your needs.

Hot New Product – Xtrig Pre Load Adjusters for Honda, KTM, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha

Hot New Product – Xtrig Pre Load Adjusters for Honda, KTM, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha
Powersport Junkie now offers the Xtrig brand pre-load adjusters for your motocross bike. If you have a KTM, you definitely need to consider these! For the rest of us, this pre load adjuster is almost a necessity if you are a track guy or serious offroad racer. You’ll find equipment like this on the factory supercross bikes, GNCC bikes and WORCS bikes. The theory behind this device is easy adjustment of your preload but more importantly, it gives you the ability to dial in your bike for certain conditions without having to hassle with beating the heck out of your shock or accidentally punching your screw driver through your air box (it’s happened before).
The racer guys will dig this because you can set your bike up for the terrain with a simple t-handle or other wrench. Not everyone tinkers with their setup often but the racers should to get the most out of their bike. This is a tool to help you reach your ideal settings while saving you a lot of time. If you are even remotely interested in getting the most out of your suspension, this xtrig preload adjuster is the right device for you. The installation is very straight forward and the piece is impervious to dirt and debris. It does add a neat little bling factor but you aren’t buying this for that right? 😉
You can find your model in the link to PSJ and the pricing/availability. Check it out over on PSJ for a sweet price and great service! Xtrig Pre Load Adjusters

Suzuki DRZ400 DRZ400S DRZ400SM and DRZ400 E Parts and Accessories

Lowest Prices on DRZ400 Parts and Accessories
The crew at Powersport Junkie is proud to announce that we offer some of the best pricing you find on DRZ400 parts, DRZ400SM parts and DRZ400E parts. There are many brands that we offer and many of the neat things you’ve probably seen on the on DRZ400 scene.  We at Powersport Junkie have owned the DRZ400SM and have worked on the DRZ400 E as well.
We’ve owned a 2006 DRZ400SM and the mods list was populated by the “required” parts. The DRZ400 is a great bike but it was built for the masses and different countries. We know how to get it to it’s full potential.

We installed the Yoshimura RS-2 full system. We went with that system because the stock exhaust was too restrictive and wasn’t very appealing to the eye. The Yoshimura RS-2 for the DRZ400SM was such a great investment. The bike wasn’t overly loud like the MRD so his neighbors still liked him (as well as the police). The power increase was very noticeable too. The seat of the pants feeling was it woke up the bottom end a lot and it added to the top.

The carb was also swapped out for the FCR MX 39. We didn’t buy the overpriced thumpertalk kit, we bought a near new one on ebay and ran a uni air filter. You can get a carb adapter boot from a machine shop online to run the stock air box. The air box was just used for additional storage on that set up. The rest of the bike was surprisingly stock. The addition of the DRC Edge 2 Tail Light was mandatory too so we almost forgot that one 🙂
Give PSJ a try if you like the best pricing to your door and good service. If you have a DRZ400 the guys at PSJ know your bike well and can give you any tips or tricks you need. Or if you just want to get someone’s experience we are here for you.

Ride Engineering Blue 21.5mm Triple Clamps for KX250F and KX450F

Limited Edition – Blue Ride Engineering Triple Clamps
We received a call from Greg over at Ride Engineering about their new limited edition blue Kawasaki KX250F triple clamps and blue Kawasaki KX450F triple clamps. They are the 21.5mm clamps to fix the handling peccadilloes that a lot of Kawasaki KX250F/450F owners experience.
Does your KX stand up in the corners? The guys from Motocross Action Magazine complain that the KX450F understeers in and out of corners and needs better turning precision. Kawasaki has made efforts to fix the offset with 23mm but still, that wasn’t enough and the Ride Engineering KX450F triple clamps were born. The guys and Ride know their triple clamps and know how to lay down motos. They were able to get the Kawasakis dialed in and get them turning on a dime.
MXA stated the 21.5mm clamps allowed the the KX450F to turn with great precision. It held its line in every corner and no rut was a challenge to the bike. They did experience head shake at higher speeds but remedied it by putting the forks flush with the triple clamps. They did feel like they were able to get away with raising them up again on the very tight tracks.
We here at Powersport Junkie own a 2011 KX450F and we are looking at the 2013 KX450F. The eleven model is ridden in the desert and at GPs so handling in the turns hasn’t really annoyed us. We do notice that it understeers at the tight local tracks like Mesquite MX, St George MX and Sandy Valley MX. We are going to consider the Ride Engineering clamps for the 2013 KX450F a must.
For the KX250F guys, you may want to consider these too if you feel you need a little more turning precision and help in the ruts.
Ride Engineering offers these billet triple clamps in blue for a limited time. If you want to order a set for $20-50 cheaper than bto and motosport, check out these links:

No More Bent Shifters for Dungey – KTM Prototype Shift Lever

Hot word on the street- DeCoster has found a solution for the KTM bent shifter woes Dungey has experienced.
Since Ryan Dungey is obviously very good at hand shifting, they are prototype testing a jockey shifter for him. Word is this one 100% tuff block resistant and compliments Dungey’s riding style. Check it out on Mike Alessi’s old race bike (that’s all they had sitting around):
No more reaching down to shift for Dungey!
